Pillow

 I've been meaning to make a pillow that could easily be restuffed (and washed) instead of constantly sewing up holes in my old pillows. I procrastinated for a long time and finally when I sat down to do it today, I forgot that I was going to add a zipper... anyways, it's not pretty but hopefully it will be workable. I'll probably use a safety pin or something to hold the zipper in place when I wash it.

Bread bags

 This was a new project, not an old one to finish, but it was a quick one. I made two bread bags for my sibling who was visiting. They often get bread at Whole Foods and it goes through a slicer and then you slide it into a bag. This was so they can stop having to use the plastic bags. I'm not sure if they're the right size, but I DID spend extra time on actually rolling over the seams and making them look nice (only broke one sewing machine needle lol).

This bag was just plain muslin. I'm worried it's a little too small, especially the opening, to fit over the bread slicer.

This one is fancier. I lined it with thin white muslin. It did turn out quite a bit bigger, so this one might be TOO big... I guess they can put multiple loaves in it? Or fill it with vegetables or... something.

Sorted out all my extra flannel - the solids are in a heap b/c I have some partial quilts they will be the backing for.

 Finally getting back to projects that have been sitting for more than a year. This will be the next one. Unfortunately, while I have a pattern and detailed counts of the pieces, I did not exactly leave detailed notes of how the squares and cream/red strips combined. Oh well.

This is left over from the quilt I finished in 2024. I will do... something with the pieces.

I finally remembered how to put the pieces together and realized I counted wrong initially and it should be 25 blocks, not 24. I did the same thing with the yellow/green quilt, which is why so much was left. I'm going to make one more block for this one - I need 3 small pink squares and one big center square. Is there more of the center square fabric? I don't know. If so, where is it? No idea. Somewhere at the library maybe?

Still working on the rag rug I started last November. My braid continues to grow, but I have... doubts about sewing it together. That's a problem for later me however.

This will definitely be a favorite. You can't precisely match up pieces, because the art is kind of swashy, but you can match up shades. It's a nice combination of different puzzle styles.

Butterflies vintage puzzle

I got this at Barnes and Noble. I picked this one for the picture and because it looked nice to match up. However, it turned out to be one of those where the pieces, especially in the border, don't click together perfectly - you think you've got them together and it turns out they're wrong, especially with all the brown. Annoying. It came together ok in the end, but I wouldn't want to do more of this brand.

Joyful Galison puzzle

 

This was supposed to be a mindfulness exercise or something. I don't know that I felt particularly joyful whilst doing it. People seem to do puzzles either based on the actual pieces and how they come together or the attraction of the picture. I think more of the pieces going together and this was more frustrating than it looked - the colors didn't really match the picture. But it got better closer to the end. Still not sure how I feel about Galison puzzles.

I've had this one up for several months - especially near the end it was very tricky. Sometimes lots of little details can be harder, because your eyes skip over them.

Braided rug project

 I've started a new project - I'm trying a braided rag rug. So far I've got the rags (chopped up clothes) and I've figured out how to attach the pieces - I tried knotting them and quickly realized that was a bad idea, so I found a tip online. You snip a little hole in the end of each piece of rag and pull them through (sorry if that's confusing, I didn't save the instructions). I've also discovered that I need to keep the braid at the edge of the table and the loose pieces not too long or it constantly knots up as you're braiding.

Fall cooking

 I don't particularly like cooking. However, I did finally clean out my small chest freezer so I determined to actually cook the stuff I got and get some meals prepped.

Chicken enchiladas

I made a second batch of soup with barley instead of rice. I still have a third batch to make to use up the last of the stuff. I freeze the soup in chunks and then when I thaw it to eat I add some more vegetable broth and frozen peas.

 I didn't keep this one. The pieces were kind of sticky which annoyed me. I actually did this... a month ago maybe?
