More in progress

Sorted out all my extra flannel - the solids are in a heap b/c I have some partial quilts they will be the backing for.

Green and yellow flannel quilt

This quilt is about 3x3.5 feet. It's for my youngest niece. I'm not totally happy with it - there was a long period between cutting and piecing and the actual putting it together, but she's a baby, she won't care lol. I did a lot of additional math with this and the pieces STILL didn't line up. Guess I'll try again with the next one.

Around the world quilt in progress

I'm still cutting 3" squares for this. I want to do an Around the World pattern. This is what I've cut so far, and organized roughly into color sequences, although I'll probably change them as I keep cutting. At some point I'm going to have to do some kind of math too probably.

Cabbage flower quilt in progress

This will be a spin-off from Posy Power block no. 542, pg. 278, from Quiltmaker's 1,000 blocks. I cut out the flowers and I'm going to piece plain colors around them. I haven't decided what colors to use yet - the original uses light and medium greens - but I'll look at what I have and then decide. They won't all be equal-sized squares.

Boxed in flannel quilts in progress

This is taken from Quiltmaker's 1,000 blocks, Boxed In, Block no. 609, pg. 312. I've got pieces cut for two variations, one darker (bugs, foxes, dark pink strips) and one lighter (bunnies, pastel foxes, cream strips).

I worked through a couple plans for this - it's 5" flowered flannel squares surrounded by colored flannel strips.

Mushrooms and foxes

I made two of these - one for my sister and one for me. I had trouble getting the first one to match up with the backing and ended up with having to do a weird fold thing. The second one I basted, but it still came out a little uneven. The stretchiness of flannel I guess. Also just using my tiny card table to put them together.

Flannel peaches and trees

Just have to sew the binding, but it's basically done.

Borders added and backing chosen - just have to sew it together!

I did a pattern of triangles, sewed in strips - sort of hexies, but not as complicated. I added half-triangles at the ends to even it off, but of course it didn't come out even so I had to add bits to get it even. The basic top is finished, but I want ti frame it with strips of orange and green and then a pale yellow backing. I haven't found the right shades yet though.

Small purple flannel quilt

One corner has a little raised bit for a child to play with. I totally did that on purpose. It's about 2x3 feet. Maybe.

Strawberry mouse flannel quilts

There are two of these, they are about a yard square. I had not quite enough of the dull red for the backing, went to Joanns to get more, didn't take the original with me, got the wrong shade, so one has a much brighter red backing than the other.

Flannel deer quilt

This quilt is about... 4x4 feet maybe? For something that was just using up the deer flannel I randomly bought, it took a long time and lots of redoing. Mostly because I measured the small green and brown strips wrong.

Orange flowered triangles lap quilt

The finished quilt is lightly larger than the top of a card table. It was donated to the library as a prize.

I made a smaller set of this, realized I'd left out a strip, then decided to keep going and make it a little bigger. This is the first part, just fits on a card table. Then I sewed a couple hundred more squares together, then realized they were in the wrong order, put a few more rows on and called it quits.

Flowered squares

The final quilt is 5' by 5' and will be donated to the library.

This is an improvement on the previous, over-purpled blocks. I used different shades of the same fabric and made them larger, using 6" squares.
