My best new favorite thing
My brother bought me this cold tea pitcher from Fava as an early birthday present. I am in love. You put the tea in the pitcher, pour in hot water and cold water, and refrigerate. The top has a little sieve thing that keeps the tea from coming through when you pour it. I have made Sweet Melon with Strawberry Rock and Summerberry Splash, with and without Strawberry Rock so far. I just can't get Summerberry to taste the way I remembered it in the store. Oh well.
Earrings
This is why I had to clean off the puzzle, so I could work on earrings!
I got these at the beading show last June. They're just two pieces strung on a little chain.
The only drawback is that they kind of....tinkle. It's like wearing little bells, or tin cans attached to your ears. I wouldn't wear them on a day when I was moving around a lot, because it would drive me crazy. Clink, clink, clink!
These are laquered wood, very light.
In which I give up
I feel slightly guilty about it, b/c my mom and sister (mostly my mom) both worked on this while they were visiting, but I'm just not feeling it and I've made it before. It's not one of my favorites. I swept it up and took it to the puzzle stash at the library for....something. I don't know what I'm doing with them.

Ratatouille without tomatoes or eggplant; or, Goosh
I saw a recipe for ratatouille that sounded really good and was all set to try it until I remembered that A. I detest cooked tomatoes and B. I have never managed to actually eat an eggplant, even though I've bought a few with good intentions. So I got out a tub of frozen broth/sludge from making pot roast, threw some potatoes in it, then sauteed carrots, zucchini, yellow squash, and beans (green beans don't really sautee FYI) threw it all in together and cooked it for a long time. It's actually pretty good. I ate quite a bit of it.

Crocheted thing
About 8 years ago, in graduate school, I started crocheting a striped scarf. It was a rather boring class and it kept growing until I realized that it was either the world's longest scarf or the beginning of a blanket. I decided it was a blanket and promised it to my sister. Fast forward eight years and I am STILL working on it. But no more. I have decided it is a two-person very long throw/shrug/thing and it is as big as it is going to get. I am just crocheting a simple cream border and then my sister can figure out how to take it home when she comes to visit. She will never be cold again.
